Job Description

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Technician looking for a new opportunity within a specialist engineering environment?

We are working with an established and growing engineering business that specialises in the repair and refurbishment of components for the commercial aviation industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join their friendly and skilled workshop team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a practical mechanical background who enjoys working with their hands, has a good eye for detail and is keen to develop their technical skills within a specialist industry.

The Role

Working as part of a close-knit Mechanical team, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair and refurbishment of a range of mechanical components.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical components and identifying repair or replacement requirements
  • Disassembling and cleaning mechanical components
  • Carrying out repairs and replacing parts where required
  • Reassembling components to the required quality standards and timescales
  • Working from technical documentation and publications
  • Completing work in line with relevant quality and industry standards
  • Following company procedures, health & safety requirements and workshop standards
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and to a high standard
  • Completing relevant administration and system updates
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment

About You

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, practical and mechanically minded, with experience working in a technical or engineering environment.

Ideally, you will have experience as a Mechanical Technician, with previous experience in areas such as trimming, upholstery, mechanical assembly or component repair within aviation, automotive, manufacturing or a similar environment.

A recognised engineering qualification such as BTEC, BNC, ONC, HNC or HND would be beneficial, although this is not essential if you have the right practical experience and attitude.

You will also ideally have:

  • A good understanding of mechanical components and repair processes
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work
  • The ability to follow technical instructions and documentation
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A willingness to learn new systems and technical processes
  • A reliable, disciplined and proactive approach
  • The ability to work well as part of a team

You don't necessarily need previous aerospace experience — the right mechanical skills, attitude and willingness to learn are key.

What's on Offer?

  • £30,000 salary
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Overtime available, paid at 1.5x hourly rate
  • 31 days' holiday including Bank Holidays
  • Annual discretionary profit share scheme
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company uniform and PPE provided
  • Training and nationally recognised development opportunities
  • Excellent opportunities to build a long-term career within a specialist engineering environment
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Health & wellbeing support

Please note: Due to the office/workshop location moving later this year, a full driving licence and access to your own transport will be required.

If you're a practical, mechanically minded individual looking for a stable role with training and long-term development opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
