Job Description

Solution Architect

My client, a large consultancy, is in need of a Solution Architect for a 6 month contract inside IR35 based in London offering 3 days per week remote but requiring 2 days per week on-site.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Banking and Payments domain expertise with proven experience defining and delivering architecture solutions for complex, large-scale strategic initiatives, Extensive experience designing solutions within regulated enterprise environments, including Real Time decisioning, personalisation, customer engagement, and high-volume transaction processing platforms, Deep knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), microservices architecture, and modern engineering practices, with the ability to apply these principles to complex business domains, Strong experience designing modern data and integration architectures, including event-driven architectures, Kafka, streaming and batch processing patterns, API design, identity resolution, and data-driven decisioning platforms.

The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in designing distributed systems, including fault tolerance, scalability, consistency models, partitioning strategies, resiliency patterns, retries, idempotency, back-pressure management, and performance optimisation, experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable solutions across multi-zone and multi-region cloud environments, Strong hands-on experience delivering cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including networking, VPC design, IAM, security controls, service connectivity, managed data platforms, streaming technologies, observability, and cost optimisation, Strong understanding of engineering and platform foundations including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, reliability engineering, observability, performance engineering, and FinOps practices.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience defining architecture roadmaps, target-state architectures, solution designs, and technology strategies that align with business outcomes, Strong experience producing and governing architectural artefacts using C4 modelling, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), architecture standards, and governance frameworks, Demonstrable experience applying secure-by-design principles, threat modelling, Zero Trust architectures, data protection, and security controls throughout the solution life cycle, proven ability to provide technical leadership and architectural governance across multiple delivery teams, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned to strategic objectives, Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders and clearly communicate complex architectural decisions.
