Site Engineer - Materials Handling

The Opportunity
We're looking for a skilled Site Engineer to join our on-site service team in Dagenham, responsible for maintaining and repairing materials handling and ancillary equipment.
This is a varied, customer-facing role where you'll play a key part in ensuring equipment uptime, delivering excellent service, and acting as a trusted technical expert on-site.
You'll also work closely with the Area Service Manager, supporting day-to-day operations and helping maintain strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on materials handling equipment
- Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and electrical repairs
- Complete accurate service reports, job sheets, and timesheets
- Manage and control on-site parts stock effectively
- Build strong customer relationships, ensuring service delivery meets contractual expectations
- Liaise with the After Sales team to provide updates, ETAs, and repair progress
- Identify and complete chargeable repair work
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations
- Identify and pass on sales leads for equipment and aftersales services
- Act as a professional company ambassador at all times
Occasional call-out and overtime work may be required.
About You
We're open to engineers from a variety of service and maintenance backgrounds, including:
- Automotive / Vehicle Technicians
- HGV / Heavy Vehicle Engineers
- Plant / Construction Equipment Engineers
- Forklift / Materials Handling Engineers
- Ex-Forces / Military Engineers
You'll also have:
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience in a customer-facing or on-site role
- The ability to work independently and manage your workload
- A proactive and professional approach
- A full UK driving licence
