What we’re looking for:
  • Our Client's Production Engineering Battery Manufacturing Engineering Department is looking for a Senior CAD Technician to support PE Battery manufacturing projects at TBMNC.
  • Primary focus: 2D drawings, 3D models/assemblies, facility layouts, utility tie-ins, equipment layouts, fabrication packages, contractor bidding packages, and as-built updates.
  • Reports to the Engineering Manager in the Our Client PE/Battery group.
  • Expected traits: attention to detail, schedule ownership, clear communication, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to remove barriers while demonstrating Our Client Way values.
What you’ll be doing:
  • CAD / Model Development
  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D CAD drawings and 3D models under PE direction and project standards.
  • Develop facility, utility, process equipment, and installation layouts across mechanical, electrical, piping, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and production equipment scope.
  • Support fixture, jig, sub-assembly, fabrication, and manufacturing-aid drawings.
  • Fabrication / Installation Packages
  • Create contractor-ready packages for installation, quotation, procurement, fabrication, construction, and bidding.
  • Define equipment locations, tie-in points, utility routing, dimensions, elevations, access clearances, interfaces, and installation constraints.
  • Support assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, Bills of Material, parts lists, and vendor/contractor drawing packages.
  • Field Verification / As-Built Control
  • Incorporate engineer markups, contractor redlines, field verification results, and as-built updates.
  • Verify field conditions when existing drawings do not match actual conditions.
  • Identify layout, constructability, access, maintainability, safety, and production-flow concerns.
  • Coordination / Document Control
  • Coordinate drawing/model updates with PE, ES, Production, Maintenance, Safety, vendors, and contractors.
  • Maintain CAD files, drawing registers, revisions, document-control records, and release workflows.
  • Support production and installation teams through drawing updates, issue resolution, field walkdowns, and status reporting.
Requirements:
Qualifications/ What you bring (Must Haves):

Education / Experience
  • Associate degree, technical certification, CAD/drafting certificate, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of CAD experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction, facility, or equipment installation environments.
  • Required CAD Tools
  • Advanced AutoCAD capability for 2D layouts, plant utilities, equipment layouts, installation drawings, and contractor scope drawings.
  • Working proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and Autodesk Forma.
  • Drawing Package Capability
  • Create manufacturing-ready and construction-ready drawing packages.
  • Interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, utility, facility, equipment layout, and vendor drawings.
  • Incorporate redlines, field verification results, as-built updates, and drawing revisions.
  • Apply drawing standards, title blocks, layers, naming conventions, revision control, drawing registers, release workflows, and transmittal expectations.
  • Review supplier, contractor, and vendor drawings for dimensional accuracy, installation feasibility, interface conflicts, completeness, and alignment to project requirements.
  • Fabrication / BOM / GD&T
  • Create complete fabrication and installation documentation packages using Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD 2D.
  • Develop 3D assembly models, assembly drawings, detail drawings, fabrication prints, parts lists, balloon callouts, Bills of Material (BOM), material specifications, and contractor-ready bidding packages.
  • Apply practical GD&T per ASME Y14.5, including datum structures, dimensional tolerances, critical functional requirements, weld symbols, materials, finishes, and fabrication requirements.
  • Develop fabrication packages from engineering concepts, sketches, field conditions, project requirements, component selections, utility/equipment interfaces, and installation constraints.
  • Installation / Field Support
  • Support layout integration, utility routing, equipment access, service clearances, installation constraints, and equipment removal paths.
  • Work in a manufacturing plant environment, including field walkdowns, contractor coordination, PPE usage, and occasional support outside normal office conditions.
  • Work Ownership
  • Manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate clearly with engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Own schedule follow-up and timely status reporting.
Bonus if you have (Preferred):
Education / Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing, construction management, or related technical field.
  • Autodesk certification, ASME Y14.5/GD&T training, OSHA 10, or similar technical/safety certification.
  • Additional CAD Tools
  • Autodesk Vault experience, including check-in/check-out, revision history, lifecycle/release workflow, and drawing search/retrieval.
  • AutoCAD Plant 3D, Civil 3D, SolidWorks, CATIA, MicroStation, or other CAD/BIM/model coordination tools beyond the required Autodesk platform.
  • AutoCAD Electrical, UniDraf, or similar systems for electrical, controls, or schematic drawing updates.
  • Manufacturing / Facility Experience
  • Automotive, battery, clean room, dry room, electrode/module/cell production, or high-volume automated production experience.
  • New plant startup, brownfield equipment installation, major model change, or production ramp-up support.
  • Facility utilities such as compressed air, chilled water, process exhaust, HVAC, ventilation, dust collection, vacuum, chemical/process utilities, or electrical power distribution.
  • Wet dust collectors, dry dust collectors, exhaust/ventilation, or environmental support systems.
  • Standards / Team Support
  • CAD automation, drawing templates, BOM export workflows, spare-part documentation, or maintenance-support drawings.
  • Mentoring junior CAD technicians or improving CAD standards, layer conventions, title blocks, and release processes.
  • Our Client Production System, Standardized Work, Job Instruction Sheets, JKK, TBP, equipment handover, or Our Client-specific project documentation.
