Senior Python Developer

Birmingham | Permanent | £45,000 to £50,000
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm. Friday, 8am to 1pm.

Are you an experienced Python Developer who enjoys solving practical business problems and seeing the impact of your work?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established luxury manufacturing business in Birmingham. Our client is looking for a Senior Python Developer to join its Systems and Technology team, helping to develop and improve the platforms that support its daily operations.

This is a hands on role with variety and ownership. Python development will be central to your work, alongside APIs, data pipelines, systems integration and automation. You will also contribute to an internal web platform and help identify useful applications for AI.

The role

Working closely with technical colleagues and business stakeholders, you will:

  • Develop and maintain Python applications, APIs and integrations using technologies including FastAPI.

  • Improve data pipelines, scheduled workflows and SQL models to support reliable reporting and business operations.

  • Connect internal platforms with ERP systems, reducing manual processes and improving data quality.

  • Investigate and resolve issues across applications, databases, integrations and cloud environments.

  • Contribute to an internal web platform built with React and TypeScript.

  • Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.

  • Improve testing, deployment processes, monitoring and technical documentation.

  • Deliver automation and AI solutions with appropriate testing, validation and measurable business value.

About you

You will bring:

  • At least five years of software development experience, with strong practical Python skills.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience in data modelling.

  • Experience developing and integrating APIs.

  • An understanding of data pipelines and cloud deployment.

  • Experience supporting live systems and troubleshooting production issues.

  • Good working knowledge of testing, version control and CI/CD.

  • The confidence to work independently and explain technical decisions to colleagues across the business.

The wider environment includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, SQL, BigQuery, MongoDB and Google Cloud Platform. You do not need to have used every technology, but you should be comfortable working across connected applications and data systems.

Experience with SAP, ERP integration or manufacturing would be useful.
