Software Engineer - JobID-0207 Department: Engineering Employment Type: Full Time Location: Arlington, VA Compensation: $90,000 - $184,000 / year Description About the Role: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), a leading defense technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer to be part of our Engineering team and based out of our Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ, or San Diego, CA location. The selected Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and integrating software solutions to support our customers. The main role of the Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative, and performant software that complies with coding standards and technical design. Clearance & Location Requirements: * All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. * This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 4 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ, or San Diego, CA location. Key Responsibilities What You Will Do: * Scope and Define Requirements: Manage formal and informal requirements to define, validate and control scope to complete all the deliverables within a project successfully * Support conversion of customer requirements into a refined vision * Support development of user, functional, and technical requirements for software systems * Engineer Solutions: Design and implement solutions that meet specific requirements using state-of-the-art data structures, algorithms, patterns, and tools * Explore and prototype next-generation solutions * Design, implement, and test software using multiple languages and technology stacks * Develop software interfaces to communicate across various network protocols and messaging frameworks * Integrate software components into complex software environments * Assure Quality: Maintains a focus on quality that produces deliverables that meet objectives and align needs, uses, and acceptance requirements set forth by relevant stakeholders * Participate in and provide feedback in design and code reviews * Develop software using secure coding practices * Support test and integration activities in IDT labs, as well as on-site customer labs * Manage Risk and Opportunities: Assess, plan, identify, analyze, mitigate and control risks and opportunities
* Support preparation, tracking, and delivery of contractual deliverables Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Who You Are (Required): * Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent full-time professional experience * 3-5+ years of relevant experience. * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed. * Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle. * Understanding of object-oriented programming. * Understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures and software design patterns * Ability to identify and describe algorithmic complexity * Ability to convert customer requirements into a refined vision * Experience with software testing and configuration management * Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. * Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive * Excellence in oral, written, and technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts * Initiative, creativity, reliability, teamwork What Makes You Stand Out: * Experience as an AI Engineer * Experience as a Generative AI Engineer * Experience as a Data Pipeline Engineer * Experience as a Platform Engineer * Experience as a Cloud Engineer or Architect * Experience as a Software Security or Cloud Security Engineer * Experience developing software with one or more modern programming languages/frameworks * Experience integrating and testing complex software applications * Experience with testing software and test automation * Experience with relational databases and/or non-relational databases * Experience with containerized deployment technologies * Experience designing and developing APIs * Experience with various network/messaging protocols * Experience with designing, developing, and maintaining application security controls * Experience working with version control software * Experience developing web user interfaces with modern libraries/frameworks * Experience using AI to accelerate software development activities and delivery to customers * Understanding of basic network concepts * Understanding of basic virtualization concepts If you see yourself reflected in this role and are excited about the impact you could make, we encourage you to apply! The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
