Role: SAP IS-Utilities FICA Consultant

Location: New York - Onsite
Duration: 24+ months

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SAP IS-Utilities (IS-U) FICA Consultant with strong functional and technical understanding of utility business processes, particularly within Electricity and Gas utilities in New York for a 2–3-year engagement. Consultant should expect 25% or more travel onsite

Experience & Qualifications

•         Minimum 8–10 years of SAP experience, with significant hands-on experience in SAP IS-U / FICA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable).

•         Strong experience supporting Electricity and Gas utility business processes.

•         Experience working in large-scale SAP IS-U implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and production support environments.

Key Responsibilities:

•         Configure, enhance, and support SAP IS-U FICA processes covering:

• Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable
• Invoicing and Posting
• Payment Processing and Payment Lots
• Incoming and Outgoing Payments
• Payment Allocation and Clarification
• Dunning and Collections
• Installment Plans and Payment Arrangements
• Returns and Refunds
• Write-offs
• Security Deposits
• Interest and Charges
• Account Maintenance and Clearing
• Reconciliation with SAP FI/GL

•         Support end-to-end Electricity and Gas customer financial processes from billing/invoicing through

•         payment, collections, and financial reconciliation.

•         Strong understanding of integration between FICA, IS-U Billing & Invoicing, Device Management, Customer Service, and SAP Finance.

•         Experience with FICA events, posting areas, main/sub-transactions, clearing rules, dunning procedures, and account determination.

•         Analyze business requirements and translate them into SAP functional designs and configuration.

•         Prepare functional specifications for enhancements, interfaces, conversions, reports, and forms.

•         Work closely with ABAP, integration, billing, finance, and business teams to resolve complex issues.

•         Perform FIT/GAP analysis, solution design, configuration, unit testing, SIT, UAT, cutover, and postproduction support.

•         Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend sustainable solutions.

•         Experience handling high-volume utility customer transactions and mass processing.

•         Strong understanding of utility customer lifecycle and meter-to-cash processes.

•         Ability to work directly with business stakeholders, facilitate workshops, and communicate solutions effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities, Fiori, BPEM, BRF+, integration with payment processors/banks, collections agencies, and external customer platforms is highly desirable. The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capability to work independently as a Senior SAP IS-U FICA Functional Consultant in a complex utility environment.
