Job Description

Bashor Children’s Home seeks a dedicated Recreation Coordinator to help youth develop healthy, meaningful leisure skills.

Responsibilities include facilitating recreation groups, assisting with the adventure challenge course, supporting community involvement, planning reintegration activities, and implementing structured weekday and weekend programs.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with youth and promoting physical and emotional well-being through engaging, supportive recreation.

  • 21 years of age.

  • A bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation, or a related field; CTRS preferred.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Auto insurance when transporting youth.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to pass required background checks, physical, and drug screen.

  • Commitment to serving a culturally diverse population.

  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement.

  • Advanced recreation management knowledge and skills.

  • Knowledge of recreation programs appropriate for the population served.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Willingness to learn high-ropes technical skills and work at height.

General responsibilities include:

  • Supervise youth and ensure their safety while following agency policies, regulations, and standards.

  • Support individualized treatment plans and daily multidisciplinary programming.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation interventions.

  • Provide recreation feedback to the multidisciplinary team.

  • Manage behaviors and use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention as appropriate.

  • Build effective relationships with staff, youth, families, and community partners.

  • Participate in agency action teams and regular supervision.

  • Maintain safe recreation facilities, equipment, and programs.

  • Assist with community reintegration activities.

Schedule:

Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday, with one late night (12pm-8pm)

Salary: Starting at $40,499.60 per year
