Position Summary

The role is a Classroom Teacher position focused on leading a culture of gratitude and growth, modelling explicit teaching and feedback, promoting enrichment opportunities, and supporting high levels of engagement and academic excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the culture of deep gratitude and growth with staff and community.
  • Model exemplary explicit teaching, feedback and school values in all learning experiences.
  • Promote enrichment opportunities to all students, improving school connectedness, academic excellence and engagement.
  • Assist with professional development, self development, and leadership coaching sessions.
  • Establish inclusive practices for disability, high ability, Koorie education, refugee, out of home care, English as an additional language, and enrichment.
  • Assist with attendance improvement and with the Principal and Leadership Team to deliver strategies that improve student learning outcomes through learning support and inclusion.
  • Provide routine support to teachers including planning of student routines, supporting communication with parents, and managing basic physical care for students.
  • Coordinate educational programs, rostering and organising the work of supportive staff and liaising with external support providers.
  • Respond to immediate behavioural presentations and provide basic supervision for up to 4 students.
  • Under appropriate guidance, deliver medical or health interventions for students.
Additional Duties

Participate in professional development and training to maintain knowledge of current best practice. Other duties as directed by the Principal, Class & Business Manager.

  • SC1 - Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with guidelines and support others in relevant work functions.
  • SC2 - Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including oral and written skills.
  • SC3 - Ability to work as part of an effective Learning Support Officer Team, promoting inclusive environment and contributing to the learning support program.
  • SC4 - Proficiency in office systems, software or technical equipment relevant to the position.
  • SC5 - Ability to work with vulnerable student cohorts and develop positive relationships, including with challenging behaviours.
  • SC6 - Commitment to professional learning and growth for self and others.
Role

Working hours are flexible. The role includes management responsibilities, including staff coordination and communication of outcomes, and may involve decision making within agreed procedures.
