Job Description
Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer. This is an onsite position located at Ft. Meade, MD and requires a TS/SCI w/FS Poly. This role analyzes user requirements and system architectures to develop and refine system specifications. It leads system design and development activities, guides users in defining needs, evaluates alternatives, and conducts feasibility assessments. The position provides technical leadership across requirements, design, and technology integration, incorporating new systems into ongoing operations. Responsibilities also include developing technical and architectural documentation, supporting system implementation planning, and preparing integration and test plans. What You'll Do: * Lead and execute systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including concept development and requirements analysis. Design, integration, deployment, operations, maintenance, and modernization efforts.
* Define, coordinate, and control system interfaces, interface changes, and configuration management processes among internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.
* Develop, maintain, and update system architectures and technical baselines using DoDAF and related standards, including operational, technical, systems, and services views.
* Perform comprehensive requirements engineering, including elicitation, analysis, decomposition, derivation, allocation, traceability, verification, and validation of system, subsystem, hardware, software, facility, and personnel requirements, ensuring requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and testable.
* Design and recommend technical solutions, concepts of operation, interface standards, and end-to-end workflows that satisfy mission objectives, functional needs, and system performance requirements.
* Provide technical leadership for hardware/software development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex systems and components.
* Develop verification and validation strategies, test plans, methods, processes, and evaluation criteria to ensure systems, subsystems, and deliverables meet documented requirements.
* Support DoD acquisition and mission capability processes, including Certification & Accreditation (C&A) activities and development/review of JCIDS documentation such as ICDs, CDDs, IA strategies, and related artifacts.
* Coordinate and resolve technical and programmatic actions resulting from Configuration Control Boards (CCB), design reviews, program reviews, test reviews, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities.
* Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate program risks through alternative courses of action, workaround planning, fallback strategies, milestone reviews, and analysis of earned value management (EVM) data.
Education/Experience/Skillset Required: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 20 years of experience as a System Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
* 5 years’ experience with the following: * VMware architecture, Installation and configuration * Facilitating failover with VMotion * Implementing rollback capability * VMware template library * Central Remote Management capability * Configuration Management * Leveraging VMware’s monitoring capability * Configuration and automated deployment of Linux-based systems over the network * Salt to manage complex IT environments across multiple operating systems is preferred Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI w/FS Poly AA / Disability / Veteran US Salary Range: $195,000 - $235,000 The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience.
