This role offers the opportunity to shape the technical direction of enterprise engineering platforms and drive scalable, resilient solutions across the organization.

Job Description
As a Staff Engineer, you will work both independently and collaboratively with peers to translate customer needs into technical solutions. You will define and drive the technical direction of enterprise engineering platforms, with a focus on building scalable design and content enablement capabilities that are broadly adopted across the organization. Leveraging both internal resources and prior industry experience, you will partner with IT leadership and enterprise-wide stakeholders to ensure solutions are built with a long-term vision that aligns with enterprise platform requirements. You will act as a force multiplier—raising the engineering bar through standardization, debt reduction, and resilient design patterns.
You will collaborate closely with IT leadership, product managers, and enterprise architecture to influence technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, and ensure delivered solutions support long-term platform scalability and business objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Designing Solutions
  • Apply expert industry knowledge and broad understanding of multiple disciplines with technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers.
  • Work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy.
  • Design systems and software integration patterns across a diverse software engineering ecosystem, aligning to high-level engineering goals and business initiatives.
Developing Software
  • Use independent, critical thinking to solve complex problems significant to the customer, leveraging application and system data as well as past experiences to inform decision making.
  • Serve as a leader in technical expertise; develop the most architecturally impactful components of solutions.
  • Lead efforts to identify, incorporate, and define development frameworks and libraries useful to the product.
Learning and Applying New Techniques
  • Seek out industry and technology knowledge along with best practices to share with the team.
Collaborating Within the Team
  • Coordinate design and integration of the entire system, including subsystems; research and recommend technology to improve current systems.
  • Participate in team collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise and remove technical roadblocks.
  • Participate in product planning and implementation; help the product owner create technical user stories as needed.
  • Contribute to detailed application specifications, standards, and diagrams; develop coding standards and best practices.
Collaborating Across Teams
  • Broker solution design and implementation across product teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Contribute to overall systems design involving multiple teams; research and provide customization or development recommendations, and implement accordingly.
Collaborating Across the Organization
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide overall operations and support processes to build resilient systems for the enterprise.
Setting Product/Platform Technology Strategy
  • Lead the design of critical path/technology for the product group and contribute to innovative solutions that align to strategic objectives.
  • Provide platform technology expertise to teams within the product group as well as interdependent teams across the organization.
  • Help define the technology and tools roadmap alongside the product owner.
Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns
  • Partner with the engineering community, both internal and external, in establishing best practices.
  • Share engineering standards across internal teams and collaborate to help software engineers apply these patterns to build effective solutions.
DevOps
  • Lead the resolution of critical incidents and provide leadership in proactively addressing product issues.
  • Continuously assess technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software.
  • Promote and expand the use of the CI/CD pipeline to improve the deployment and build process.
Selecting & Managing Technology Vendors
  • Lead the evaluation process for software solutions, advising on strengths and weaknesses of external software.
  • Provide a summary of how a tool impacts business processes and goals.
  • Contribute to criteria for selecting the right platforms and software for the product team.
Coaching Engineers
  • Provide guidance and reinforcement around established engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers of varying levels inside the product group.
  • Provide trainings and demos to address knowledge gaps within the team.
Recruiting and Building Talent
  • Engage in the tech community to build the organization''s technology brand and position it as an employer of choice in the market.
  • Participate in the interview process or serve on interview panels to recruit top talent.
  • Take part in the Talent Captain role for the product group, helping lead interview processes.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, another technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering environments, preferably within Wealth Management or Financial Services, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating detailed software engineering plans for delivery.
  • Experience architecting software solutions with requirements such as performance SLOs, high availability, reliability, and security.
  • Experience designing and implementing Model Management solutions, including model lifecycle management, governance, monitoring, and integration with Wealth Management, investment management, or financial planning platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data and system integration patterns and technologies.
  • Experience with leading Wealth Management technology platforms such as Envestnet, Orion Advisor Technology, Black Diamond, or similar portfolio management, reporting, model management, and advisor workflow platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with React, Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, GraphQL, Docker, AWS, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Terraform, and Elasticsearch.
  • Deep experience designing, developing, and supporting Java-based integrations using Spring Boot and related technologies, including REST APIs, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, messaging frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Proficiency in managing large-scale projects.
  • Ability to articulate and transfer complex ideas to a wide audience through both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong conceptual, critical thinking, technical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet with high-level management to present and deliver technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master''s degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems or Digital Asset Management.
  • Financial Services industry experience.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other team members.
