Link Media is the UK-based publisher of Arabian Gulf Business Insight (agbi.com), a leading source of business information and analysis in the MENA region, and Hyphen (hyphenonline.com), which covers issues relevant to Muslims in the UK and Europe.
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Officer to join our London operations team working 2.5 days per week. Suitable candidates will have a minimum of five years’ relevant experience. Experience of working in small businesses and/or within the media industry is desirable.
This vacancy is for a one-year fixed-term contract.
Location: Hybrid working between our central London office and home, subject to arrangement
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/2.5 days per week
Key responsibilities
- Acting as a first point of contact for employee queries; providing guidance on HR policies and procedures
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and employee development, including ensuring that staff probation and annual reviews are taking place at the appropriate times
- Providing guidance and support to management on employee relations issues
- Staying up to date with employment legislation, maintaining the employee handbook and conducting staff training sessions to ensure understanding and compliance
- Maintaining and updating employee records in compliance with UK GDPR/ Data Protection Act 2018
- Monitoring staff absences, ensuring that these are accurately recorded and followed up where necessary (eg obtaining medical certifications)
- Assisting with payroll administration
Knowledge and previous experience
- Demonstrable work experience in HR operations (minimum of 5 years’)
- A solid working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- A CIPD qualification/ university degree in HR is highly desirable
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Google docs; familiarity with Slack
- A high standard of written and spoken English

- Ability to multi-task, adjust priorities at short notice and stay calm under pressure
