Role: SAP PP / ATP / MRP Consultant – SAP ECC

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced SAP PP / ATP / MRP Consultant with deep, hands-on expertise in SAP ECC configuration, production planning, material availability, and constraint-aware scheduling.

The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting complex MRP and ATP scenarios, optimizing confirmation logic, and evaluating standard SAP configuration versus custom development to address manufacturing planning constraints.

This is a hands-on consulting role requiring someone who can quickly assess the existing ECC environment, identify configuration and process gaps, and recommend practical solutions.

Required Technical Skills

• SAP ECC Production Planning (PP): Strong configuration and troubleshooting experience.

• ATP & MRP Configuration: Expertise in MRP groups, MRP 1–4 views, lead-time scheduling, and MRP group-level confirmation settings, including OPPR/OPPJ.

• Confirmation Logic: Practical knowledge of full versus partial confirmation logic and its impact on component availability checks, including MDVP.

• Planned Order Firming: Understanding of firming behavior, its impact on planning changes, and scenarios where firming serves multiple business purposes within the same manufacturing site.

• Shortage Report Validation: Ability to audit existing shortage reports and validate whether committed-quantity calculations align with SAP confirmation logic.

• Custom Development & Automation: Ability to evaluate standard configuration, process improvements, and custom development alternatives, including BAPI-based automation.

• Constraint-Aware Scheduling: Experience improving production scheduling and material availability processes in manufacturing environments where standard ECC MRP functionality is insufficient.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and troubleshoot existing SAP ECC PP, ATP, and MRP configuration.

• Review confirmation settings and assess their impact on production orders, component availability, and committed quantities.

• Evaluate MRP group settings, scheduling parameters, and planned order firming behavior.

• Audit shortage reporting logic and identify discrepancies between reported shortages and SAP confirmation calculations.

• Recommend configuration, process, or custom-development solutions based on manufacturing requirements.

• Assess the feasibility and business impact of BAPI-based automation where standard SAP functionality does not adequately address planning constraints.

• Work closely with manufacturing and business stakeholders to implement practical, sustainable improvements.

Ideal Candidate

• Hands-on SAP ECC PP consultant with strong ATP and MRP expertise.

• Experience resolving complex production planning and material shortage issues in a live manufacturing environment.

• Able to explain the business implications of confirmation logic and planned order firming, not just the configuration settings.

• Previous experience enhancing or correcting constraint-aware scheduling logic is highly desirable.

• Available to work onsite in Campbellsville, Kentucky, for the initial 2-month engagement.
