Python Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer Automation & API Integration to support the Business Operations Automation team at a large-scale financial services organization. This hands-on development role focuses on designing, building, enhancing, and supporting Python-based automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce manual processes.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of Python development experience, strong API integration and SQL skills, and a proven ability to deliver reliable automation solutions in production environments.

This is an individual contributor position requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate directly with business stakeholders to identify and implement automation opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Python-based automation solutions to streamline business operations and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.

• Develop and maintain workflow automation solutions using Python, APIs, SQL, and related technologies.

• Leverage Selenium to automate end-user interactions with applications when API integrations are unavailable.

• Enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain existing automation solutions in production environments.

• Integrate automation workflows with enterprise applications and databases through existing APIs.

• Develop user-facing automation interfaces using Python GUI frameworks such as Tkinter, when applicable.

• Implement appropriate testing, logging, validation, exception handling, and operational controls.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand existing workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend process improvements before implementing automation.

• Utilize GitLab or similar source control platforms for code management and collaboration.

• Maintain technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal development teams.

• Support automation initiatives in an Agile development environment.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on Python development experience, preferably focused on process automation, workflow automation, or operational tooling.

• Strong experience developing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions in production environments.

• Experience consuming REST APIs and integrating applications with enterprise systems and data sources.

• Proficiency in SQL, including SELECT, INSERT, and UPDATE operations.

• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, or PostgreSQL.

• Experience using GitLab, GitHub, or comparable version control platforms.

• Strong understanding of software testing, debugging, logging, error handling, and development best practices.

• Proven troubleshooting skills across technical applications and business processes.

• Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical automation solutions.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Selenium for browser automation, UI interactions, or automated testing.

• Experience with Tkinter or similar Python GUI development frameworks.

• Background in financial services, banking operations, or payment processing systems.

• Familiarity with ACH, Fedwire, FedNow, or check processing.

• Experience supporting operational teams responsible for configuring or maintaining payment systems.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency.

• Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to evaluate and optimize workflows before automating them.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will be experienced Python developers who have built and supported business-critical automation solutions, rather than engineers focused exclusively on application development.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to independently deliver automation projects, collaborate with operational stakeholders, and develop reliable solutions that improve business efficiency.

Experience with financial services operations, Selenium-based automation, and enterprise database integration will be especially valuable.

Work Environment

• Onsite in Boston, Massachusetts, five days per week.

• Other Client district locations may be considered for exceptional candidates.

• Hands-on individual contributor role; no people management responsibilities.

• Collaborative environment supporting business operations and enterprise automation initiatives.

Interview Process

• Up to two interview rounds, approximately one hour each.

• Virtual interviews may be available.

• A 30 45-minute Python/Selenium technical assessment may be included.
