Senior Project Controls Scheduler - Primavera P6 | Utility Capital Projects

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Scheduler to support major capital and infrastructure projects within a large utility environment. This position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting complex project schedules using Primavera P6.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting construction and capital projects, developing integrated schedules, performing critical path and variance analysis, monitoring project performance, and working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced scheduler who has supported large, complex projects or programs and is comfortable managing schedules across multiple concurrent workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update complex project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Support major capital projects and programs from planning through construction and project completion.
• Develop and maintain integrated master schedules, project-level schedules, and detailed work breakdown structures (WBS).
• Incorporate existing schedules from multiple project teams and contractors into integrated project schedules.
• Track and monitor project milestones, critical path activities, dependencies, constraints, and deliverables.
• Perform schedule analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis to identify potential delays and schedule risks.
• Monitor project performance against baseline schedules and established schedule targets.
• Document project delays and support Time Impact Analysis (TIA) and other schedule-impact evaluations.
• Analyze schedule trends and recommend corrective or recovery actions when projects are at risk of missing milestones.
• Support the scheduling of large programs involving multiple concurrent distribution or infrastructure projects and work groups.
• Track permitting activities and other external dependencies that may impact project schedules.
• Apply project controls principles, including schedule management, forecasting, performance monitoring, earned value, and trend analysis.
• Prepare project controls reports, dashboards, presentations, schedule updates, and management-level analyses.
• Gather schedule and project-status information from project managers, construction teams, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare project controls information in support of governance reviews, internal and external audits, regulatory filings, and other reporting requirements.
• Identify project issues, schedule risks, and potential impacts and work with project teams to develop solutions.
• Provide recommendations to project managers and leadership regarding schedule performance, risks, alternatives, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project teams to establish project objectives, milestones, timelines, risks, and deliverables.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior project controls and scheduling professionals.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be more than a P6 operator. We are looking for an experienced scheduling professional who can analyze a schedule, identify risks and trends, communicate potential impacts, and work with project teams to keep complex projects moving forward.

You should be comfortable working with numerous stakeholders, managing competing priorities, and providing actionable schedule information to project managers and leadership.

The position may require occasional travel to project or job sites, generally less than once per month.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, Data Science, or a related discipline; equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant professional experience may also be considered.
• 7+ years of experience in project scheduling, project controls, construction, or capital projects.
• Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
• Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing complex project schedules.
• Experience with critical path scheduling, schedule forecasting, variance analysis, WBS development, and integrated master schedules.
• Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, or capital improvement projects.
• Working knowledge of SAP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Visio.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to gather information from multiple project teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting electric utility, power, transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility infrastructure projects.
• Experience scheduling a portfolio or program involving multiple simultaneous capital or distribution projects.
• Construction management experience.
• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM/EVMS).
• Experience performing or supporting Time Impact Analysis and delay analysis.
• Experience with regulatory, governance, audit, or executive project-controls reporting.
• Professional certification such as:
• Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP)
• Earned Value Professional (EVP)
• Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
