Job Description

About the role Gateway Geospatial Group (G3) is looking for talented VDI Engineers to join our growing team in Dayton, Ohio. In this role, you will help design, implement, secure, and sustain a multi-cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and thin-client environment supporting everyday enterprise operations, high-performance computing workloads, and secure developer environments. You'll work across technologies including Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa/VMware Horizon, and 10ZiG thin-client management. We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems, working across multiple technologies, and building secure, reliable environments that users can depend on. Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, test, and maintain enterprise VDI environments
  • Build and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop gold images, multi-session host pools, FSLogix profile containers, and auto-scaling configurations
  • Administer AWS WorkSpaces, including application deployment, Active Directory integration, WorkSpaces pools, and WSP/PCoIP streaming
  • Provision and optimize Omnissa/VMware Horizon virtual desktops, instant clones, storage layers, and Connection Servers
  • Deploy and maintain 10ZiG thin-client management infrastructure within AWS
  • Configure, patch, secure, and manage physical thin and zero-client endpoints
  • Automate VDI deployments, cloud resource scheduling, and user profile management
  • Monitor and optimize VDI performance, including latency, login times, resource utilization, and peripheral compatibility
  • Apply DISA STIGs and other security-hardening requirements across VDI platforms and supporting infrastructure
  • Work with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to address vulnerabilities, POA&&Ms, patch compliance, and continuous monitoring
  • Support CTO/ATO activities and associated technical documentation
  • Serve as Tier-3 escalation support for complex VDI issues
  • Develop SOPs, CONOPS, technical documentation, and architectural recommendations Required qualifications
  • Hands-on experience administering at least one of the following VDI platforms: Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa/VMware Horizon
  • CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II) or a globally recognized equivalent certification
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Experience implementing DISA STIGs and supporting infrastructure security requirements
  • Experience supporting CTO/ATO documentation within highly regulated enterprise environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical communication skills
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as SOPs, technical designs, or system documentation Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with 10ZiG Manager or equivalent thin-client/endpoint management platforms
  • Experience with Active Directory and enterprise identity integration
  • Experience with FSLogix or similar user-profile technologies
  • AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure experience
  • Experience with VDI image management and application deployment
  • Experience working directly with ISSOs and cybersecurity teams
  • Experience supporting Zero Trust architectures and cloud optimization
  • Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop certification
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator
  • VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) or Omnissa Horizon credentials
