Job Description

Oracle Database Engineer

Christchurch Based

74.68 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35

12 Month Contract initially.



This is a great opportunity to work within one of the Uks leading Defence Organisations based in Christchurch.

Current SC/DV Cleared is needed for the position.

The candidate should have an existing, proven knowledge of the following:

  • The systems development lifecycle, from design through to test
  • The development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing), and development tools

Essential / Desirable skills The candidate should also be able to demonstrate:

  • A team working culture
  • Innovation and problem-solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation
  • Interpersonal and communication skills. In particular, the candidate will show the confidence to liaise with customer and user representatives to discuss systems technical issues.
  • Awareness of Risk Management

Additional Information

  • The development processes (e.g. requirements, design, specification, implementation, acceptance testing), and development tools
  • The design and implementation of database tables
  • Implementation of database packages using the Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Database design and modelling
  • Performance monitoring and enhancement of an Oracle database
  • Database administration
  • Monitoring the Oracle website for updates and engaging with Oracle to request patches
  • Horizon scanning for vulnerabilities
  • Configuring Windows/Linux/RHEL operating systems
  • Creating bespoke applications and automated deployment using PowerShell

Knowledge:

  • Innovation and problem-solving skills, with a holistic view to implementation
