Safety Lead

Job Summary – Safety Lead

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in safety and OSHA program implementation

• Lead the implementation of Safety Management Systems and oversee change management

• Thoroughly learn and analyze new safety systems, identifying strengths and areas for improvement

• Document system changes and maintain accurate records

• Update safety procedures and workflows as necessary

• Develop and deliver safety and OSHA-related staff training

• Provide ongoing support to system users and refine safety documentation

• Prefer candidates with safety/OSHA certification and relevant experience

• Conduct weekly safety walk-throughs, inspections for unauthorized equipment, and identify safety violations

• Maintain and oversee safety equipment (AEDs, fire extinguishers, first aid kits)
• Participate in Annual Workplace Evaluations and all required safety meetings/training activities

• Support remediation of any identified safety deficiencies

• Ensure compliance with updated VA Directive 7700.01 for Occupational Safety and Health

• Complete written gap analysis and implement required changes

• Provide dependable logistics, warehouse, and hands-on facility support to maintain OSHA compliance

• Adhere to VA credentialing standards and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) requirements

• Ensure compliance with all VHA vaccination and background investigation processes
