Senior Cloud Engineer III with Security Clearance

About the role Gateway Geospatial Group (G3) is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer III to architect, design, and implement cloud solutions that help our mission partners leverage the full potential of cloud technologies. You'll own the development of robust, scalable cloud infrastructure, serve as a technical mentor who guides and accelerates the growth of junior engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery to the mission. Work is five days onsite in a SCIF in Reston, VA. Responsibilities

• Support the design and implementation of cloud-based architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in alignment with industry best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize cloud infrastructure
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of cloud engineers, reviewing their work and helping them solve complex technical challenges
• Engage with stakeholders to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and stay current on evolving cloud technologies and compliance standards
• Provide requirement decomposition and definition, and engineering expertise, to ensure program requirements are developed and sustained
• Prepare operating instructions and end-user training
• Develop and implement cloud governance strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
• Lead efforts to automate deployment, monitoring, and management processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual intervention
• Act as a subject matter expert on cloud engineering best practices, participating in knowledge sharing and contributing to G3's technical community
• Participate in all phases of risk management assessments and architecture Required qualifications
• Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Poly
• 10+ years of relevant IT, systems, or infrastructure experience, including 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience
• Experience designing, building, supporting, and troubleshooting AWS cloud infrastructure in classified government environments
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudFormation
• Experience supporting AWS GovCloud and/or other classified AWS environments
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
• Experience implementing cloud security controls, including IAM, SSO, federation, security baselines, and account-auditing policies
• Experience securing and hardening Linux or Windows cloud systems in accordance with applicable security and RMF requirements
• Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a similar language
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex cloud environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred qualifications
• Experience supporting AWS environments across multiple classification domains
• Experience creating, managing, and hardening Amazon Machine Images or other cloud-based OS images
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or EKS
• Experience with microservices or serverless architecture
• Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform
• AWS cloud certification
• Experience providing architecture guidance or supporting large-scale cloud-modernization initiatives
