Title: Principal Product Designer
 Location: Charlotte, NC 28217 (Hybrid 3 days a week)
Duration: 1 Yeare Contract to FTE Hire
Compensation: $64-85/HR  based on candidate experience, Salary + Benefits on Conversion

Mission

Own how validated opportunities are translated into compelling product experiences. Lead solution shaping through rapid prototyping, interaction design, and product thinking while evolving the experience foundations that allow those solutions to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Shape Product Direction

• Translate validated opportunities into product experiences.
• Explore multiple solution directions before converging.
• Define future-state workflows and interaction models.
• Translate long-term vision into practical, iterative experiences.
• Partner with Product, Discovery, and Engineering teams before delivery.

Prototype & Validate

• Prototype to improve product decisions, not just communicate designs.
• Use AI to accelerate concept exploration and iteration.
• Choose the appropriate level of fidelity for each decision.
• Validate concepts with users and stakeholders before engineering investment.
• Continuously improve prototyping practices across the organization.

Build Experience Foundations

• Evolve reusable interaction patterns and experience principles.
• Modernize visual language where it improves product usability and outcomes.
• Grow the experience system from proven patterns and successful solutions.
• Promote consistency through reusable foundations and standards.

Improve the Practice

• Strengthen Design and Engineering collaboration.
• Recommend improvements to the design-to-production workflow.
• Evaluate emerging AI-enabled design and product development workflows.
• Coach designers and elevate overall product design practices.

Success Measures

• Teams move from opportunity to validated solution more quickly.
• Strategic initiatives explore multiple concepts before implementation.
• Solutions are validated earlier in the product development lifecycle.
• Experience foundations evolve naturally from proven work.
• Engineering and Design teams share common frameworks and foundations.
