Mapper Programmer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mapper Programmer to design, develop, maintain, enhance, and support enterprise applications in a UNISYS MAPPER/BIS environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with MAPPER programming, databases, system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using UNISYS MAPPER/BIS technologies.

• Analyze business and technical requirements and determine appropriate system solutions.

• Work with managers, senior programmers, analysts, support staff, and product managers to plan system enhancements and changes.

• Develop technical specifications and documentation for new and existing applications.

• Design and implement complex solutions from requirements through development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Develop and maintain programs using MAPPER/BIS programming and databases.

• Work with BIS CoolICE and related MAPPER technologies.

• Develop and maintain MAPPER/BIS GUI and UI/UX components where required.

• Design reports, audit trails, logs, and security mechanisms for batch programs, web applications, and MAPPER programs.

• Collaborate with analysts and business teams to assess requirements and recommend technology solutions.

• Design systems with consideration for capacity, performance, scalability, and high availability.

• Maintain and enhance existing applications and information systems.

• Develop and maintain databases and information systems, including database structures and data sets.

• Monitor database performance and reorganize databases as needed to optimize performance and storage.

• Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and restart procedures.

• Troubleshoot application, database, and system issues and provide technical resolutions.

• Provide production support for enterprise applications and programs.

• Assist technical support teams in resolving complex application and database issues.

• Participate in system testing and integration of application modules.

• Develop, implement, and monitor quality assurance and testing standards.

• Troubleshoot reported system problems and implement corrective solutions.

• Prepare management reports and provide requested information to users and management.

• Provide programming assistance and technical support to other development teams when required.

• Work with customers and business users to clarify requirements and resolve application issues.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with UNISYS MAPPER/BIS programming and development.

• Hands-on experience with MAPPER/BIS databases.

• Experience with BIS CoolICE.

• Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy enterprise applications.

• Strong knowledge of database structures, performance monitoring, backup, recovery, and restart procedures.

• Experience with system design, development, testing, integration, and production support.

• Knowledge of batch processing and web application environments.

• Experience designing reports, audit trails, logs, and security mechanisms.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Understanding of system performance, capacity, scalability, and high availability.

• Strong technical documentation and analytical skills.
