The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a Government Property Manager for a premier aerospace and defense client. The role can be based in either the Greater Boston Area (Cambridge, MA) or Northern Virginia (Reston, VA). This leader will own the daily stewardship of Contractor Acquired Property (CAP), Government Furnished Property (GFP), and the client’s own equipment and materials across every campus.

The role goes beyond running a compliant property program. The successful candidate will shape how contractual property obligations are interpreted, documented, and carried out across programs, bringing one consistent, enterprise-wide discipline to a function that directly protects the client’s federal contracts. It is a high-visibility seat for a seasoned property professional ready to develop a team, sharpen processes, and set the standard for audit readiness.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the entire Government Property Office, keeping every stage of the FAR-defined property life cycle fully compliant.
  • Evaluate government contracts and proposals so GFP obligations are understood, captured in program documentation, and executed as written.
  • Direct and coordinate the work of the property management staff, giving regular, constructive feedback measured against office goals.
  • Build team capability by partnering on hiring and performance reviews, and make sure every team member has the tools and skills to succeed.
  • Foster strong working ties with Supply Chain, program offices, and other functions, and back up the Shipping/Receiving Manager when needed.
  • Execute recurring Property Office self-assessments.
  • Establish departmental goals and initiatives, and deliver property training to audiences at the department, program, and enterprise level while upholding a strong service culture.
  • Advise subcontractors, outside stakeholders, and internal program teams on all government property requirements and procedures.
  • Craft and refine property policies and procedures, untangling complex issues with minimal oversight.
  • Track evolving FAR and DFARS requirements and roll out the updates they call for.
  • Spearhead every property audit, interpreting findings and driving corrective action to sustain compliance.
  • Safeguard property system data so records stay auditable and reporting stays compliant.
  • Govern all Plant Clearance cases and the client’s Item Unique Identification (IUID) program.
  • Steer the full end-of-life path for client and government assets: storage, reutilization, disposition, and disposal.
  • Administer and coordinate subcontractor controls tied to government property.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on Government Property experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Working command of FAR Part 45, FAR 52.245-1, DFARS , DFARS , and related regulations.
  • Practical fluency in the IUID Registry and the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • A track record of leading cross-functional teams, negotiating contracts, and translating complex topics for varied audiences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, plus sharp problem-solving that you apply in partnership with external stakeholders and internal teams.
  • A self-directed, highly motivated work style.
  • A background in Information Technology or Information Systems is a plus.
  • Certified Professional Property Administrator (CPPA) or another NPMA Professional Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to secure and hold a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. work authorization, since the client will not provide sponsorship.
  • Comfort working in office and warehouse settings, with periodic travel to offsite and subcontractor locations.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Base salary of $138,000–$160,000 per year (full-time, direct hire)
  • Full relocation assistance
  • Hybrid schedule on a 9/80 work week
  • Top-tier benefits plus a 10% 401(k)
