Senior Network Engineer

Introduction:

The Senior Network Engineer will play a crucial role in strengthening TxDOT's technology services by modernizing network architecture and enhancing overall security. This role will ensure secure migration of applications to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Responsibilities:

• Design, review, and govern firewall and network security architectures
• Establish and enforce secure network standards
• Govern firewall access and reduce risk across hybrid environments
• Implement cloud-native networking capabilities and modern security controls
• Improve visibility and resilience across TxDOT's enterprise network

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8-12 years of experience as a Network Engineer in large enterprise or government environments
• Expert knowledge of networking and network security principles
• Experience with on-premises and multi-cloud network environments
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Texas DIR Shared Technology Services (STS)
• Experience working for or supporting a State of Texas agency
• Knowledge of cloud networking and security in Google Cloud Platform, OCI, Azure, or AWS
• Understanding of DIR policies, state security standards, and compliance frameworks
• Experience supporting application modernization initiatives

This role requires onsite presence in Austin, TX. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
