Drafter

GovCIO is seeking a Drafter/CAD Operator to provide SolidWorks and AutoCAD drafting support to the Navy's Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team. This is a fully onsite position located in North Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities
3D Modeler / CAD Operator is responsible for creating accurate, high-quality digital models, drawings, and technical documentation used in design, engineering, manufacturing, and visualization. This role supports cross-functional teams by transforming concepts, sketches, and specifications into precise 3D assets and CAD files.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed 3D models based on engineering requirements, sketches, and reference materials.
• Produce technical drawings, CAD files, assemblies, and layouts for manufacturing or construction.
• Revise existing models and drawings to incorporate design changes or improvements.
• Maintain file organization, naming standards, and documentation for all models and CAD assets.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.
• Perform quality checks on models and drawings to verify dimensions, tolerances, and structural accuracy.
• Prepare visual renderings or simulations when required for presentations or design reviews.
• Assist in refining modeling workflows and CAD standards to improve efficiency.

Qualifications
High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience

• Clearance Required: SECRET

• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and CAD software (examples: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Blender, Rhino, or similar).
• Strong understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning, and technical drawing principles.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• High attention to detail and ability to follow precise guidelines.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Prior experience in engineering, architecture, product design, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
