Job Description

Title: Embedded Staff Engineer 
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 6 Months (Contract to Hire)

The role:
The next step for client is running in real time on client radars You will own the embedded implementation: porting the existing Python-based processing chain onto radar SoCs, holding hard latency, power and memory budgets, and building the test infrastructure that proves on-target behavior matches what we validated in the field.
You will work directly with our CTO and the algorithm team, and you will help shape how the first engineering team at client works. Expect to argue about what survives fixed-point conversion.

What you'll do:
Implement and optimize the signal chain in C/C++ on embedded radar under SWaP constraints
Design the real-time firmware architecture
Board bring-up, drivers, and the data path from ADC to output
Build capture/replay and hardware-in-the-loop rigs around real field data
Join field tests and integration work with clients

What we need
Relevant advanced academic degree(s)Strong embedded C/C++ on resource-constrained SoCs, with RTOS experience
Working DSP fundamentals
Comfort at the bench & tinkering
Eligibility to work with export-controlled technical data
Ability and comfort working in high-risk high-reward a startup environment with high self-direction

Good to have
PhD in a relevant field
Experience with commercial mmWave radar SoCs and their SDKs
FMCW radar signal-chain knowledge
Prior defense, aerospace, or safety-critical firmware work
Existing German, EU or US work authorization-Chip or FPGA design experience
