Job description

About the Role

Join the applied AI team at a Series A/B workforce technology company serving industrial operations. You will bring AI agents into the core product, building and scaling the backend systems that support worker sourcing, vetting, matching, and placement.

What You'll Do

  • Define how AI agents can automate workflows across a staffing marketplace and guide the team's use of AI-assisted development tools.

  • Architect and lead core backend systems, including real-time matching and automated vetting pipelines.

  • Own platform architecture and make technical decisions that support the product's needs as it grows.

  • Improve backend performance, reliability, and scale across APIs, data models, and distributed systems.

  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to turn ambiguous problems into practical, customer-focused solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Five or more years of software engineering experience for Senior roles, or seven or more years for Staff roles, including end-to-end product ownership in early-stage teams.

  • Hands-on experience at a fast-growing startup, shipping and leading high-velocity projects through ambiguity and cross-functional challenges.

  • Strong Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js skills, with experience designing APIs, data models, and distributed systems using technologies such as PostgreSQL and Kafka or RabbitMQ.

  • Experience building and shipping agentic or applied AI products, and using coding agents to turn ambiguous problems into working prototypes.

  • Strong product judgment, with the ability to connect technical decisions to user needs and business impact.

  • Background in areas such as AI, marketplaces, matching systems, recruiting, or operational software for non-technical users is valuable.

  • Strong computer science or other technical fundamentals, and a track record of sustained ownership in previous roles.
