Job Description

Summary

MOS Plastics Inc., a Currier company is a medical-focused company specializing in precision injection molding, automation, assembly, and packaging solutions for the healthcare and life sciences industries.

We are seeking a Lead Machine Operator to support our supervisors in ensuring that production jobs are properly staffed with trained personnel. You will perform a variety of production activities to ensure that production schedules and quality requirements are met while maximizing efficient up-time operation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assigns Machine Operators to machines and jobs based on past performance, capability, experience, and job difficulty
  • Staff's jobs to meet production schedules and quality requirements
  • Assists in training Machine Operators in following departmental procedures and job requirements
  • Ensures workstations are adequately supplied with materials, tools, documentation, samples, labels, etc.
  • Instructs and monitors Machine Operators’ safety and housekeeping practices
  • Ensures production personnel maintain accurate inventories and reject counts
  • Checks and verifies labels match job pack
  • Alerts Supervisor or Maintenance personnel concerning equipment and/or machine problems
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the department

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of plastics or manufacturing production experience; medical device experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to run and troubleshoot multiple machines and part families.
  • Able to explain the production process for the assigned area, including parameters, defect modes and their causes.
  • Working knowledge of OEE — able to calculate it, interpret it by loss category, and act on it.
  • Working knowledge of IQMS or comparable ERP/MES production reporting.
  • Able to read and interpret work instructions, Quality Plans, packaging specifications and master process records (Red Book).
  • Able to train, direct and hold a team accountable; clear written and verbal communication including email escalation.
