Job description

Primary Purpose:

The Director, Power Generation Strategy & Analytics sits within the Commercial group and serves as the senior analytical leader for the Power Generation business. This role owns the commercial view of projects in development, covering competitive position, pitch materials, and where each project stands across the Company's power generation portfolio, including whether it should advance. Executive decision-making is supported by rigorous analysis, sound project economics, and a thorough understanding of market conditions. The Director owns the analytical agenda for the business and is accountable for the quality, pace, and conclusions of the analysis that reaches executive leadership.

The Director leads a team of analysts responsible for competitive analysis, pitch materials, development pipeline tracking, routine commercial updates, and strategic decision support, including project valuation and early financial modeling that keeps that work rigorous. Working closely with Power Generation leadership, development, and Strategic Finance, the Director assesses opportunities, evaluates risks, and provides actionable recommendations across development, financing, construction, and operations. The Director sets priorities and work product and holds the team accountable for rigor, deadlines, and recommendations they are prepared to defend. The role requires deep expertise in power generation and energy markets, and the project economics and financing rigor to test the validity of power projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

With Strategic Finance, Corporate Development, and project leadership, evaluate debt, equity, and alternative financing structures; support capital formation, lender diligence, and financing transactions; and evaluate capital allocation strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns across the portfolio.

  • Support evaluation of acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and other business development opportunities, and coordinate cross-functional diligence related to development, financing, acquisition, and strategic initiatives.

  • Lead, mentor, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing team of analysts and senior analysts. Decide what the team works on, who owns each workstream, and what is ready for leadership. Challenge assumptions and advance only work that is decision ready.

  • Set and enforce analytical standards, modeling best practices, reporting frameworks, and quality assurance processes, and ensure timely delivery of decision-ready analyses and recommendations.

  • Identify capability gaps and create development opportunities to strengthen team performance. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and analytical excellence in which the team is responsible for outcomes.
