FUNCTIONAL ROLE
L&L Metal Fabrication is seeking an experienced Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our custom metal fabrication shop.
The Shop Manager is responsible for supervising shop employees, coordinating fabrication priorities with Project Managers, maintaining an organized and productive shop, overseeing equipment maintenance, and ensuring materials are properly received, stored, and managed within the warehouse.
This position serves as the primary point of accountability for daily shop operations and reports directly to company leadership.
The ideal candidate is an experienced metal fabrication professional with strong leadership skills who understands how work should flow through a custom fabrication shop and can keep employees, equipment, materials, and projects organized.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and direct shop employees and daily workflow
- Coordinate fabrication schedules and priorities with Project Managers
- Monitor quality, productivity, attendance, and housekeeping
- Oversee maintenance and proper use of shop equipment and machinery
- Oversee the organization and storage of warehouse inventory, raw materials, remnants, and finished products
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company policies, procedures, break policies, applicable OSHA standards, safe work practices, and proper use of PPE.
- Identify material, equipment, staffing, or production issues and communicate them promptly
- Ensure the shop remains organized and efficient.
- Provide regular shop status updates to leadership
Required Qualifications
- Strong metal fabrication and welding knowledge
- Previous shop leadership or supervisory experience
- Knowledge of metal types, gauges, thicknesses, and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints
- Hands-on experience with common fabrication equipment and tools, including press brakes, shears, saws, welding stations, and forklifts.
- Experience with material organization, storage, and inventory management
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Full-time, on-site availability in Tontitown, Arkansas
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
