Job Description

IT Security Engineer | Gaithersburg, MD, United States | Remote | $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

We're hiring on behalf of a leading technology and defense solutions provider known for its innovative approaches to complex national security challenges. The Role

  • Design, develop, and implement secure systems for on-premises infrastructure.
  • Ensure security is integrated into the system design, development, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Lead Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities within the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Develop and maintain critical security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs) and Risk Assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ISSOs, developers, and government counterparts, on security compliance.
  • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and validate compliance using security tools.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity or a related field, with 8+ years of experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph.
  • At least one DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level II certification (e.g., CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CSSLP, CASP+ CE).
  • Experience reviewing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, planning mitigations, and remediations.
  • Proficiency in architecting, designing, and deploying vulnerability scanning solutions.
  • Experience using RMF tools such as XACTA or eMASS.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
