Job Description

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We are Midland Veterinary Surgery, an established, single-site first-opinion general practice powered by a close-knit team of 5 vets (3 full-time, 2 part-time), dedicated team of 4RVNs and 1 SVN and 1 care assistant, and a supportive reception team. As a single-site branch, you get the stability of case continuity and working up your own cases with on-site management to support on every single shift.

Whether your passion lies in surgery, consultations, or complex medical work, we have caseloads to suit your strengths. Two of our vets enjoy dentistry (but are happy to share the load if interested), we are fully equipped with dental X-ray, plus visiting ultra sonographer and soft-tissue/orthopaedic surgeons to support you with complex cases. We encourage vets to scrub in on these cases/watch the scans. We take pride in delivering contextualised care and foster an open-door culture where your ideas for improving clinical standards and team education are actively heard and put into practice.

Practice Highlights

* True Work-Life Balance: Flexible 3-5 day working patterns designed to fit seamlessly around your family and personal commitments. Admin slot at the end of shift to aid leaving on time.
* Daily Management Support: Single-site practice with management on-site every day, ensuring you never feel isolated.
* Modern Equipment & Specialist Support: In-house dental X-ray and ultrasound, visiting specialists (ultrasound & surgery) to expand your clinical capabilities.
* Strong Case Continuity: Build deep, lasting relationships with clients and their pets in a stable, community-focused single site.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Key Responsibilities

* Delivering high-quality first-opinion consultations, medical workups, or routine surgical procedures tailored to your clinical strengths.
* Managing a varied first-opinion caseload with great case continuity, utilizing in-house diagnostics, dental X-ray, and visiting specialist support.
* Participating in clinical governance, sharing ideas to continuously elevate patient care, and practicing tailored, contextualised care for every budget.
* Working a flexible rota of 30 hours over 3 to 5 days (earliest start 8:00 AM, maximum of two 7:30 PM late finishes per week), a 1:3 Saturday rota (8:00 AM–2:00 PM, typically working alongside another vet), with no OOHs and very limited sole charge.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

* A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
* Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
* A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
* Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* A passion for delivering excellent patient and client care

At inspiring vet care, we’re committed to supporting your ongoing development and wellbeing. When you join us, you’ll benefit from:

* Clear career pathways with progression opportunities across primary care, referral, leadership, and specialist roles
* Funded learning and development including CPD allowance and access to IVC academy training centres & role-relevant courses
* £1,250 annual Care Fund for every vet
* Access to mentors, regional clinical coaches, and peer networks
* Support to develop clinical interests and expand your capabilities
* A collaborative, values-led culture focused on care, community, and continuous improvement

What We Offer Our Team

* 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays
* Private medical insurance
* Enhanced family leave and pay across maternity, paternity, adoption and surrogacy
* BVA membership, VDS cover & RCVS fees
* Cycle to Work and Green Car schemes (eligibility applies)
* Retail discounts and cashback offers
* Reduced-cost veterinary care for your own pets

We’re committed to supporting our people through career development opportunities, wellbeing initiatives and access to world-class learning resources.
