Platform Engineer

What you'll bring

You have hands-on experience with cloud platforms, backend development, and containerized environments.

• 4 to 8 years of experience with proficiency in Python or Go for building scalable backend services and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration, and familiarity with Argo Workflows for deployment and workflow automation.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform — AWS, GCP, or Azure — and a solid understanding of cloud architecture and scalability.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, observability tools, and performance monitoring.
• Exposure to agentic orchestration, AI governance operations, and AI-assisted development practices.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

In addition to the skills and experience specific to this role, all positions at SAP require candidates who are comfortable using AI tools — including agentic AI — in their day-to-day work, from crafting effective inputs and automating routine tasks, to evaluating AI-generated outputs for quality and driving adoption of AI practices within their teams.

 

What you'll build

You'll work on the Prompt Evaluation, Optimization and Metering Platform — building backend services that improve prompt accuracy and billing reliability.

• Design and develop scalable backend services for prompt engineering and metering, working with engineers, architects, and product managers.
• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies and billing inaccuracies to keep metering systems reliable.
• Build platform services with observability features and fault tolerance for production-grade reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile workflows — code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Develop expertise in metering and billing as a core part of your domain knowledge.
• Maintain code quality and operational readiness through automation and testing.
