Job Description

Controls Engineer, Allen-Bradley Automation and Robotics

Location: Wyoming, MI
Job Type: Full-time
Travel: Up to 15%, domestic and international
Pay: $80,000 to $100,000 per year, plus quarterly bonus

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years designing, building, and programming custom industrial automation systems
  • Rockwell / Allen-Bradley experience, including Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, and RIA TR R15.06
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%, including internationally
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

What You’ll Do

  • Build PLC and HMI control software architectures for custom machines
  • Integrate robotics, vision systems, VFDs, and servo applications
  • Configure EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Profinet networks
  • Design electrical panel schematics, layouts, BOMs, and I/O maps in AutoCAD Electrical
  • Create pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Program robot paths, TCPs, and frames, including offline programming
  • Lead machine power-up, debug, and on-site commissioning
  • Conduct safety assessments and risk validations
  • Build reusable code libraries and engineering standards
  • Train customers and mentor entry-level controls engineers

Nice-to-Haves

  • FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, or KUKA robot experience
  • Siemens TIA Portal, Omron, or Mitsubishi experience
  • Offline robot programming experience

Compensation and Benefits
