Transportation Driver

Primary Accountability

The Transportation Driver is responsible for the overall transportation and safety of patients. They will assist with housekeeping duties when no patients are in need of transportation.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the overall transportation and safety of patients to and from the health centers.
   1. Communicates with the Health Center and Navigation Center staff to ensure patients are properly transported in the most efficient way.
   2. Communicates with other Transportation Drivers staff to ensure patients are picked up to the health center and transported back to their homes in an efficient, and safe manner.
   3. Maintains daily transportation logs and submits them weekly.
   4. Supports transportation services at other sites, as needed for coverage.
2. Adheres to the Preventive Maintenance Schedule for the transportation vehicles. 
   1. Coordinates with the automotive repair shop to ensure proper and timely vehicle maintenance.
   2. Ensure that transportation vehicles are always fueled and ready for use.
   3. Keeps mileage record and repair records up to date.
3. Maintains transportation safety standards and daily cleanliness of transportation vehicles. 
   1. Completes the daily vehicle inspection list.
   2. Reports any traffic violations and accidents.
   3. Obeys all traffic violations and respects other drivers and vehicles.
4. As part of other duties, performs housekeeping duties when not transporting patients.
5. Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions.  Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law.
6. Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Description of Primary Attributes

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must:

1. Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, and technical skills.
2. Must have proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5 and health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program and be at least 21 years old.
3. If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Bachelor’s degree.
4. Have a minimum of two years of experience demonstrating specific knowledge of transportation processes and practices, typically learned on the job and/or through structured training programs.

Technical Skills:

1. Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
2. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
3. Ability to create basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Licenses & Certifications: Must have a valid “Class A or B” California driver’s license with Passenger Endorsements if driving a 12 or more passenger vehicle, and a clean DMV record that allows employee to be eligible to be insured to transport patients by FHCN’s automobile insurance carrier.  In lieu of a “Class A or B” Driver’s License, may have a valid “Class C” Driver’s License to drive an 8 passenger or less vehicle.

1. Job duties require the employee to effectively communicate routine or non-technical information to co-workers and others.
2. Effectively communicates written information (including electronic correspondence) and verbal presentations.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk. Pay Scale:

Min Hourly Rate: $25.00

Max Hourly Rate: $30.00
