Preferred Candidates: Candidates located in or near Oakland or San Francisco, California.

Required Technical Skills:

Java Backend Development

• Strong hands-on experience with Java backend development.
• Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• JPA/Hibernate.
• Maven/Gradle.
• Unit testing using JUnit and Mockito.
• API integrations.

Database Technologies

• Strong SQL and relational database experience.
• Database design, queries, joins, indexing, and performance optimization.

Rules Engine

• Hands-on development experience with rules engines such as Drools and Kogito.

Programming Languages

• Hands-on coding experience in C/C++.

Cloud, DevOps and Infrastructure

• Strong experience working in Linux environments.
• Command-line tools and shell scripting.
• GitHub repository management and GitHub CLI.
• Kubernetes deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
• Microsoft Azure cloud services and infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience using Claude Code or OpenAI Codex in software engineering projects.
• Regular, day-to-day use of GitHub Copilot for development.
• Experience in the dental or medical insurance industry, particularly insurance claims processing.
• Additional hands-on rules engine experience.
