Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain high-impact reporting and analytics solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to transform complex data into actionable dashboards and actionable business insights.

  • Location: Richmond, VA (Local candidates or those within a 2-hour drive preferred)
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Core Responsibilities
 
  • Dashboard & Report Development: Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
  • Dataverse Integration: Build reporting solutions on established Dataverse and Dynamics 365 data models.
  • Data Transformation: Connect and transform data using Power Query (M) across SQL Server, Azure Blob Storage, and Cosmos DB.
  • DAX & Modeling: Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot DAX measures, calculated columns, and dimensional star-schema models.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Gather business requirements and translate them into clean, user-friendly visual analytics.
  • Security & Admin: Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and adhere to dataset governance, workspace management, and compliance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
 
  • Power BI Development: 4+ years creating end-to-end BI and reporting solutions.
  • DAX & Data Modeling: 3+ years writing advanced DAX (time intelligence, context evaluation) and 2+ years designing dimensional star schemas.
  • Power Query & M: 3+ years preparing and transforming data.
  • SQL: 3+ years querying relational database systems.
  • Dataverse / Dynamics 365: 2+ years building reports directly against Dataverse.
  • Stakeholder Management: 4+ years eliciting business requirements and delivering user-centric visualizations.
Top Skills That Stand Out (Bonus)
 
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Blob Storage, or Cosmos DB.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI Service Administration (gateways, workspaces, deployments).
  • Background in public sector, regulatory, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300).
