Mainframe Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client in Westlake, TX that is seeking a Mainframe Developer.

Responsibilities

• Performs as a full stack engineer, including requirements gathering, development, and testing
• Participates in architecture design teams and help define and implement application level architecture
• Develops applications on sophisticated projects, components, and subsystems for the division
• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans
• Responsible for QA readiness
• Plans and conducts system testing
• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems
• Establishes project plans for complex projects across multiple platforms
• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments
• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues
• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives
• Advises senior management on technical strategy and mentors junior team members
• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives
• Determine opportunities to innovate and provide solutions to the existing Process by Automation

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience performing mainframe brokerage and stock plan services systems application development
• Demonstrated Expertise (-DE-) performing mainframe application development, test automation, and support, using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, Java, Web Services, and SQL
• Experience in the development and deployment of Batch and CICS applications
• Demonstrated experience performing mainframe application development - file format and comparison - using File-aid; Performing version management using Endeavor; Debugging and unit testing, using Intertest and Abend-Aid; and scheduling jobs using Control-M
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and crafting data flows for mainframe application development
• Demonstrated experience performing mainframe application development and performance tuning within TSO and MVS operating system environments; Developing applications, using Endevor, Git, ClearCase (for version control), Control-M (for scheduling), Abend-AID and Intertest (for debugging), File-Aid (for browsing), and Easytrieve (for report generation), and conducting performance tuning and capacity planning - reducing I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs - using Strobe, iStrobe, Platinum Detector, and TMON
• Experience in open source technologies like Python

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
