Job Description
Put your nursing skills to work in an outpatient military healthcare environment where you’ll support direct patient care, preventive services, and the health needs of trainees.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you’ll provide direct patient care in an outpatient setting while working alongside registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Your work will include patient assessment, medication administration, medical record screening, vaccine administration, lab collection assistance, patient education, and support during urgent or emergent situations.
You’ll also help provide health support for trainees and medical coverage for occasional outdoor events while contributing to a collaborative environment focused on safe, responsive care.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Material Employment Conditions: This is an onsite position within a military healthcare environment. Temporary or permanent movement to another clinical section may be required based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation provided.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., including a one-hour unpaid meal period. Occasional weekend work and coverage on some federally recognized holidays are required. A compensatory day will be provided for holidays worked. No services are required on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Pay: $22.40–$24.89 per hour
- Classification: Service Contract Act (SCA)
- Health & Welfare: Up to $5.42 per hour, in accordance with the SCA
- Paid Time Off: 80 hours
- Sick Leave: 56 hours
- Holidays: 11
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with varying healthcare needs, following established clinical policies, procedures, and scope-of-practice standards
- Assess patient needs, complete assigned treatments, and accurately recognize, document, and report relevant clinical information
- Prepare and administer prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications in accordance with established procedures
- Recognize urgent or emergent situations, obtain assistance from an RN or physician, and initiate directed interventions
- Prepare patients and equipment for diagnostic examinations and specialized procedures, assist during testing, and monitor patient condition
- Support trainee healthcare through medical record screenings, EHR documentation, vaccine administration, lab collection assistance, and medical coverage for outdoor events
- Participate in quality-improvement activities, peer review, patient and family education, and the orientation of peers and support personnel
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency and accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA); graduate of a State Board of Nursing-approved LPN/LVN training program; or completion of equivalent military training that permits eligibility for the state licensure examination
- Full, current, and unrestricted LPN or LVN license from a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers certification
- At least 24 months of experience as an LPN within the past 36 months in one or more of the following outpatient settings: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, or Emergency Medicine
