Network Engineer C2BMC | Missile Defense Cybersecurity Colorado Springs, CO $51.91 - $64.90/Hour U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law We are hiring a Network Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO, to support the Command and Contr ol, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) National Team Program and the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

This role supports cybersecurity engineering, cyber testing, vulnerability management, DISA STIG compliance, Risk Management Framework (RMF) security contr ols, patch management, and cyber capability integration for a critical Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The Network Engineer will partner with Cyber Engineering teams to embed, validate, and test cybersecurity solutions on the C2BMC platform.

This position also coordinates Cyber Test Facility (CTF) activities, evaluates cyber test plans and requirements, supports Agile/Scrum development, and manages remediation efforts involving IAVM tickets, Cyber Tasking Orders (CTOs), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), vendor patches, and cybersecurity configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Cyber Engineering teams to integrate, validate, and test cybersecurity solutions on the C2BMC platform at COS HWY-83.
  • Verify cybersecurity contr ols are properly implemented, configured, and fully tested against applicable program requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Cyber Test Facility (CTF) at MIDOC, coordinating cyber test events and supporting successful test execution.
  • Review and validate cyber test plans and test cases submitted by development teams for technical accuracy, implementation, and compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
  • Brief program leadership on test-plan analysis, cybersecurity requirements, test readiness, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Execute cybersecurity tests and provide clear, actionable technical feedback to development and cyber engineering teams.
  • Support timely delivery and integration of cybersecurity capabilities while maintaining a strong focus on vulnerability management and remediation.
  • Manage Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) tickets, Cyber Tasking Orders (CTOs), and Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) through remediation and verification.
  • Integrate and validate vendor-issued security patches and cybersecurity configuration changes.
  • Apply and verify Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guide (DISA STIG) configurations.
  • Configure cyber audit and security tools and perform cybersecurity vulnerability assessments.
  • Support cybersecurity capabilities including patch management, multi-factor authentication (MFA), host-based security, intrusion detection, security event management, active/passive system scanning, Group Policy Object (GPO) management, and defense-in-depth.
  • Participate throughout the Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Scrum, including requirements identification, user story development, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, testing, and validation.
  • Develop and present technical cybersecurity findings, reports, test results, and recommendations to government stakeholders, program management, and C2BMC functional teams.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship Required to Start
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required at start.
  • Post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline may apply to the required experience level.
  • Generally 3+ years of related network engineering, cybersecurity engineering, cyber testing, or information assurance experience.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or higher, required at start.
  • Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity capabilities, including patch management, multi-factor authentication, host-based security, intrusion detection, security event management, active/passive system scanning, Group Policy Object (GPO) management, and defense-in-depth.
  • Experience identifying and remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats, including IAVM, CTO, CVE, and vendor patch remediation.
  • Security engineering and Information Assurance (IA) knowledge involving NIST standards, DoDI 8500.2, Risk Management Framework (RMF) security contr ols, and DISA STIG configurations.
  • Experience configuring cyber audit tools, conducting cybersecurity vulnerability assessments, and performing security configuration activities.
  • Hands-on experience throughout the Agile development lifecycle using Scrum, including requirements identification, user stories, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
  • Experience reviewing, implementing, and executing cybersecurity test plans and test cases and providing actionable feedback to ensure cyber requirement compliance.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models, software/system testing processes, and cyber-tool software applications.
  • Leadership experience and ability to support complex organizational and technical relationships.
  • Technical writing and verbal presentation skills sufficient to communicate complex cybersecurity issues, reports, test results, and recommendations to government stakeholders, program management, and C2BMC functional organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad application of cybersecurity, network engineering, and information assurance principles, theories, and technical concepts to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience developing thorough solutions to difficult cybersecurity or engineering challenges while working under general direction.
