Job Description

Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power) | Askam-In-Furness, United Kingdom | Hybrid | Up to £57,500

They are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join their dedicated Electrical Engineering team, contributing to complex and vital projects.

The Role

  • Develop design solutions to meet agreed time, cost, and quality milestones.
  • Manage requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and products.
  • Understand contractual and performance requirements, supporting acceptance activities through all project phases.
  • Produce comprehensive design documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, and supporting calculations.
  • Provide technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities, including supplier equipment.
  • Contribute to estimating work scope and resource requirements for bids and project planning.

What You'll Need

  • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent qualification, with CEng status or eligibility.
  • Demonstrable experience across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: Power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
  • In-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Generation and Distribution, Protection, Co-ordination, or Power Earth Fault Monitoring.
  • Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
  • Experience working within industry codes and standards in a relevant engineering role.
