Job Description

VP of Business Development

Fourier is working on making on-site Hydrogen universally accessible. Our breakthrough architecture enables highly modular and fully automated Hydrogen cells that scale to any size and optimized efficiency at all loads. We are on a mission to transition the global energy landscape towards a purely sustainable and emission free future.

About the Role

Fourier seeks a commercial leader to lead our sales and Go-to-Market strategy. You will be responsible for the company’s commercial growth and deployment of early Fourier devices into customer locations. Ideal candidates will have a strong commercial background, possessing the ability to connect and empathize with Fourier’s customers to instill confidence in Fourier’s system.

Crucially, this is a "player-coach" role for our early commercialization stage. You will act as a hands-on individual contributor to hunt, negotiate, and close our first major deployments, followed by building and scaling a world-class business development team as the company grows.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Reporting to the CEO, serve as part of the core leadership in defining the strategy and implementation of Fourier’s commercial growth plan.

  • Own the top-of-funnel Go-To-Market strategy, aggressively building our initial pipeline into new use cases like power storage and data centers, while continuing to refine Fourier’s Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).

  • Act as the primary closer for our early deployments, hands-on leading commercial negotiations, pilot agreements, and offtake agreements, while shaping Fourier’s pricing strategy.

  • Own the company’s commercial roadmap and aid with raising capital to support it.

  • Build and scale a world-class business development team and develop future leaders to grow and scale with the company.

  • Support other Fourier team members on customer meetings and visits, as necessary.

  • Champion new ideas, technologies, and directions while steering the team towards execution and meeting commercial targets.

  • Define goals and targets for the commercial group and ensure overall company commercial targets are being met.

  • Identify and coordinate Fourier’s participation in industry-related events including industry associations, trade-shows, and conferences.

  • Drive and build upon our strong commercial culture that focuses on agency, accountability, and velocity.

  • Engage in continuous performance management to coach, recognize, celebrate, and inspire excellence while clearly communicating expectations and accountability.

  • Develop Fourier’s collaborative and people-driven culture to enable individual growth and make Fourier one of the best places to work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant field such as economics, business, or marketing; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience building a lean, high-performing commercial team from the ground up, with a track record of hiring and growing customer-facing teams. Experience doing it at early stage start ups is a plus.

  • Track record of acting as a hands-on individual contributor to secure early revenue and ability to meet and exceed assigned commercial targets.

  • Experience in selling and deploying industrial-grade services and products.

  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.

  • Deep organization capabilities, especially in regards to influence, collaboration, and communication.

  • Experience with renewable energy production and backup power systems a plus in heavy industries, data centers, and other energy-intensive environments.

  • Prior experience selling or working with industrial gases is a plus.

  • Experience setting and implementing a performance-based compensation plan.

  • 50%+ Travel required to visit customer locations and attend industry events
