Job Description

Role Name: Database Engineer 
Location: Foster City, CA 94404
Contract on 1099 or W2 terms
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop scalable database solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade database software and tooling.
  • Monitor performance and optimize queries, indexes, and schemas.
  • • Implement database security controls and data protection measures.
  • Collaborate with application teams on schema design and SQL optimization.
  • Troubleshoot database incidents across development and production environments.
  • Create architecture documentation, configurations, and operational runbooks.
  • Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure improvements.
  • Manage AWS database services including RDS, Aurora, and Redshift.
  • Research and adopt emerging database technologies and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code for database resources.
  • Proven Database Engineer or DBA experience.
  • Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Redshift, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced SQL and query optimization skills.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, normalization, and schema design.
  • Hands-on experience with database monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
BONUS
  • AWS networking fundamentals.
  • Terraform Cloud and Infrastructure as Code workflow experience.
