Salary: $135,000 - $160,000/year depending on previous experience

The Opportunity:
BDCC is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance and Grant Management to join its senior leadership team. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for the organization's financial strategy, operations, compliance, lending portfolio oversight, grant administration, and administrative functions.
The Director of Finance and Grant Management partners closely with the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, and leadership team to ensure the organization's financial strength, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability. This role offers the opportunity to influence regional economic development initiatives while building systems and processes that support BDCC's continued growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices.
- Present financial reports and insights to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee all accounting operations, including monthly close, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, government regulations, and funding requirements.
Grant Management
- Oversee financial administration and compliance for federal, state, and private grants.
- Partner with program staff to manage grant budgets, reporting, invoicing, and audits.
- Ensure effective systems and controls throughout the grant lifecycle.
Lending & Portfolio Oversight
- Provide leadership for BDCC's Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) operations.
- Oversee loan underwriting, portfolio monitoring, compliance, and reporting.
- Support lending strategy and portfolio performance while managing risk.
Organizational Leadership
- Lead and develop staff across finance, administration, and lending functions.
- Partner with leadership to evaluate organizational performance, staffing, and operational effectiveness.
- Support strategic initiatives, special projects, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Strong skills in financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Ability to assess financial performance, investigate variances, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex financial data to stakeholders.
- Proficiency with accounting systems, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and financial management software.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit procedures.
- Understanding project management and financial oversight for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Preferred:
- Expertise in the full lifecycle of grant administration, including applications, compliance, and audits.
- Experience managing federal, state, and private funding sources.
- Familiarity with revolving loan funds (RLF) and lending processes.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing nonprofit finance.
- Experience with nonprofit management, including board engagement and governance.
- Familiarity with regional economic development principles and workforce development.
Working conditions:
- Work is generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions, multiple deadlines, applicant inquiries, and peak workload periods.
- Position will require attending a weekly BDCC/SeVEDS staff meeting, and daily collaboration.
- The position requires a schedule of work of 40 hours per week including evening meetings, as needed.
- Work may include prolonged sitting, as well as light to moderate lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, pushing, manual dexterity, clear speech, visual and hearing acuity. The need to transport files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.
