Job Description

Embedded Software Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Test Engineer to perform independent verification and validation (IV&V) for cybersecurity enhancements implemented on a hydraulic mobile valve embedded controller. In this role, you will review and verify a newly implemented secure boot architecture, firmware authentication mechanisms, access controls, and secure update processes on a Texas Instruments TMS320F2809 (C2000 family) microcontroller. The objective is to verify all cybersecurity updates and generate robust, documented verification evidence suitable for international compliance efforts, specifically supporting EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) technical documentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities Design and execute test plans to independently verify and validate cybersecurity enhancements on hydraulic mobile valve embedded controllers. Evaluate secure boot architectures, firmware authentication mechanisms, access control models, and secure over-the-air/in-field update processes. Detailed verification plans, test cases, trace matrices, and documented evidence supporting compliance with the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and related regulatory frameworks.

Utilize JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers to conduct low-level verification, fault injection, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing directly on the target hardware. Develop and maintain automated test scripts in Python for security regression testing, hardware interfacing, and test output parsing. Perform targeted source code reviews and static analysis on low-level Embedded C firmware to ensure secure implementation against potential vulnerabilities.

Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software verification, test engineering, or embedded security validation. Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Hands-on experience developing or testing firmware on Texas Instruments C2000 microcontrollers (specifically TMS320F2809 or similar TI DSP/MCU architectures). In-depth technical understanding of secure boot implementations, cryptographic signature verification, key management, access control, and secure firmware flashing.

Practical understanding of regulatory cybersecurity frameworks, specifically generating technical evidence for the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), IEC 62443, or ETSI EN 303 645. Strong proficiency in Embedded C (for firmware review) and Python (for test script development and automation).

Debugging Tools: Proven expertise using JTAG debuggers, in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
