Google Cloud Platform Cloud Migration Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform Cloud Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale cloud migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform, cloud architecture, migration strategy, Terraform, Kubernetes, and multi-cloud environments.

The architect will lead migration planning from initial application and infrastructure discovery through migration wave planning, execution, and establishment of a scalable migration factory.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end enterprise cloud migration initiatives with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform.
• Assess applications and infrastructure across on-premises, AWS, and OpenStack environments.
• Develop application placement strategies and migration roadmaps.
• Design Google Cloud Platform Landing Zones, Cloud Foundations, and target-state architectures.
• Define architectures for compute, storage, networking, IAM, logging, security, HA, and disaster recovery.
• Design and implement scalable Migration Factory models and migration waves.
• Develop CloudOps, FinOps, and SecOps operating models.
• Build automated infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Develop and implement DevSecFinOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Support migration of VMs, containers, databases, and enterprise applications to Google Cloud Platform.
• Design secure connectivity between Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and on-premises environments.
• Troubleshoot post-migration issues involving networking, DNS, load balancing, databases, applications, and cross-cloud dependencies.
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, migration plans, and gap assessments.
• Work closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders, security teams, and cloud teams.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Expertise in Google Cloud Platform services including:
  • Compute Engine
  • GKE
  • Cloud Storage
  • VPC
  • IAM
  • Cloud SQL / Spanner
• Strong experience with enterprise cloud migration and migration factory models.
• Experience designing Google Cloud Platform Landing Zones / Cloud Foundations.
• Strong Terraform / IaC experience.
• Experience with AWS and multi-cloud architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Shared VPC, Cloud Router, HA VPN, Interconnect, Private Service Connect, and VPC Peering.
• Experience with Kubernetes/GKE and container migrations.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps, FinOps, and CloudOps.
• Experience with migration planning, application dependency mapping, gap assessments, and migration waves.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification.
• Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
• Experience with AI-driven testing and modern cloud migration automation.
• Experience with large-scale enterprise or public-sector cloud transformation projects.
