Job Description

Welding Engineer | Munich, Germany | On-site

The Role

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for complex welded assemblies, assessing their development potential and participating in supplier pre-selection.
  • Develop concepts and implementation plans for establishing welding production lines at supplier facilities.
  • Define and communicate technical and normative requirements for the production of welded assemblies, facilitating know-how transfer to selected suppliers.
  • Coordinate support from other departments for know-how transfer and manage information exchange with suppliers.
  • Provide welding engineering consultation and support to suppliers from production launch through to successful series production.
  • Assist quality management with initial sample inspections, supplier audits, and acceptances, and support welding-related approvals and qualifications.

What You'll Need

  • Completed degree in mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification, plus certification as a Welding Engineer (IIW1170).
  • Additional certification as an Adhesive Engineer (EWF3309/EWF662) or willingness to obtain it is advantageous.
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) qualification, particularly in VT, is desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes (thermal cutting, welding including automated welding, milling, etc.) and materials (high-strength steels, aluminum alloys).
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and standard software.
  • Proficient English skills, ideally French, with a willingness to undertake regular business travel domestically and internationally.
  • Self-initiative, independent and responsible work approach, and confident demeanor with national and international partners.
