Role: Senior Field / System Engineer (IT infrastructure)

Location · Madison, NJ · Hybrid

Level 3: $80,000–$105,000/year

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Field Engineer to deliver advanced technical support, IT infrastructure management, and project implementation services for business clients. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in systems administration, networking, Microsoft technologies, and complex troubleshooting, along with the ability to work independently and support client environments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure, server, network, and endpoint issues.
Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID environments.
Manage and support virtualization platforms, including VMware or Hyper-V, as applicable.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, and wireless networks.
Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, endpoint security, and system monitoring solutions.
Lead technical deployments, migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
Conduct onsite client visits for advanced troubleshooting, installations, and project delivery.
Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term corrective solutions.
Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 support teams.
Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, system configurations, and client records.
Communicate technical findings, project updates, and recommendations to clients and internal teams.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or advanced technical support.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and networking.
Experience with virtualization, backup and disaster recovery, and IT security solutions.
Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Experience working in managed service provider (MSP) or multi-client environments is preferred.
Strong communication, project coordination, and customer relationship skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and travel to client sites as required.
