Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for leading all aspects of the estimating process for complex commercial electrical construction projects. This role requires extensive knowledge of electrical systems, construction means and methods, conceptual estimating, value engineering, subcontractor management, and competitive bid strategy.
The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complete estimating efforts for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects ranging from $1M to $250M+.
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
- Develop conceptual budgets, design-build estimates, GMP pricing, and hard bid proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, controls, and specialty electrical systems.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, and Executive Leadership during preconstruction.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and client presentations.
- Assist in developing project schedules, staffing plans, and procurement strategies during preconstruction.
- Maintain current knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, market trends, and construction methodologies.

Qualifications
- 8+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Proven success estimating large-scale electrical construction projects.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), construction methods, and electrical systems.
- Experience with design-build and negotiated work preferred.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, Trimble Accubid Anywhere, ConEst, McCormick, or similar platforms.
- Experience using Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Procore, BuildingConnected, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar software.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience estimating projects exceeding $50 million in electrical scope.
