Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Fab Technician / Engineering Technician to provide hands-on support within a semiconductor fabrication facility in Albany, NY. The technician will work closely with equipment owners, engineers, and fab operators to monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot tool issues, support engineering experiments, and help maintain stable manufacturing operations.
This role requires strong hands-on fab experience, equipment troubleshooting ability, good communication skills, and the ability to work a rotating overnight schedule.
Schedule
The candidate will work 12-hour overnight shifts on an alternating-week schedule:
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support within the semiconductor fab and work directly with equipment owners and operators.
- Monitor daily equipment performance and resolve wafer force completes.
- Review equipment logs, assess alarms, troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings to engineering teams.
- Investigate manufacturing issues including:
- Particle levels
- Metal contamination
- Etch-rate failures
- Deposition-rate failures
- Collect wafer maps and elemental information, document findings, and communicate results to engineering.
- Monitor wSPC/control charts to identify trends, abnormalities, and potential process excursions.
- Support engineering experiments and equipment-related development activities.
- Assist with equipment baseline activities supporting advanced semiconductor technology development.
- Attend fab/operations meetings and provide updates regarding equipment status and issues.
- Create and manage equipment recipes and process-related requests.
- Request equipment monitors and manage tool-related activities.
- Place tool inhibits or exceptions when required.
- Maintain equipment operating procedures and help protect the fab from process excursions.
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to resolve manufacturing concerns.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.
- Willingness and ability to work the required 12-hour overnight alternating schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of semiconductor fab experience.
- 1+ year of equipment troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with or ability to learn SiView.
- Experience with web-based specification/process-control systems.
- Experience working with semiconductor manufacturing equipment, wafer processing, SPC/control charts, or fab operations.
