Job Description
Hire Resolve is assisting mining organizations in hiring experienced coal mining professionals across the United States. This multi-role opportunity covers surface and/or underground operations, engineering, maintenance, HSE, and production planning functions. These roles are designed for mid- to senior-level candidates and provide a pathway toward Superintendent, Operations Manager, and Site Leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe, compliant coal production across underground and/or surface operations
- Maintain and strengthen MSHA compliance programs, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions
- Drive daily execution through production planning, crew leadership, equipment utilization, and KPI reporting
- Improve equipment availability and reliability (mobile fleet, fixed plant, conveyor systems, prep plant interfaces)
- Support ground control, ventilation, and production sequence planning (as applicable)
- Oversee contractor management, permitting workflows (role-dependent), and operational readiness
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (cycle time, downtime reduction, cost/ton optimization)
- Support capital projects, maintenance shutdowns, and commissioning activities
- Develop teams through coaching, SOPs, training, and performance management
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety, or related discipline (or equivalent experience for certain leadership roles)
- Typically 5–12+ years in coal operations, maintenance, planning, or HSE leadership
- Strong experience with MSHA requirements; underground and/or surface exposure preferred
- Familiarity with maintenance systems (CMMS), work management, reliability practices, and reporting tools
- Strong communication and leadership in site-based environments; comfortable with shift/rotation work
